Anesthesia Allergies

Local anesthetics are used in a variety of procedures, including dental, dermatological and plastic surgery. Allergic reactions to local anesthetic drugs is no common, but can occur in children or adults due to their lower weight.

If a patients history does not rule out a possible allergic reaction, skin tests can be performed to determine if an allergy exists. Through skin testing, Watkins allergy staff can understand your specific reactions to the anesthetics.  Once a determination has been made, a plan can be created to determine which types of local anesthetic should be used or if medication should be administered for minor surgical procedures.
